Background and context

A monohybrid cross is a cross between 2 parents who differ in just one character. Pod texture or the shape of the pod was one of the 7 characters selected by Gregor Mendel for studying inheritance. The contrasting traits of pod shape are inflated and constricted. The inflated pod is the dominant character while constricted is a recessive character.
