Background and context

Gene interaction or the factor hypothesis was a concept introduced by Bateson which was not by the mendelian inheritance. Mendelian inheritance focused on a gene with 2 alleles coding for character and its contrasting traits. Gene interaction explains the interaction between alleles and genes and thereby they code for different characters.
