Background and context
The reaction of photosynthesis that is not dependent on light is called a light-independent reaction. This reaction occurs in the stroma. Ribulose bisphosphate carboxylase (RuBisCO) and three molecules of ribulose bisphosphate (RuBP) are the different enzymes of the dark reaction.
