Background and context

One DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) molecule initiates the production of a new molecule while staying intact, according to the hypothesis of conservative replication. In this case of replication, one daughter cell receives newly synthesized DNA whereas the other daughter cell receives the original old DNA. This is very different from the other methods of replication such as semi-conservative and Disperse replication.
