by Wisan Shoienceste
ACT II
SCENE 1. Brutus's garden. The ides of March. Rome
[Enter BRUTUS]
1-BRUTUS: What, Lucius, hol
I cannot, by the progress of the stars,
Give guess how near to day. Lucius, I say!
I would it were my fault to sleep so soundly.
When, Lucius, when? Awake, I say! What, Lucius!
[Enter LUCIUS.]
LUCIUS: Call y you, my lord?
BRUTUS: Get me a taper in my study, Lucius.
When it is lighted, come and call me here.
2-LUCIUS: I will, my lord.
[Exit]
BRUTUS: It must be by his death: and for my part,
I know no personal cause to spurn at him.
But for the general. He would be crown'd.
In his soliloquy in Scene 1 Section 2, what reason does Brutus give for killing Caesar?
A. Brutus justifies killing Caesar out of spite because Caesar always disrespected Brutus.
B. Brutus justifies killing Caesar out of fear because Caesar threatened to kill him in a fortnight.
C. Brutus justifies killing Caesar for personal gain, he hopes to take Caesar's place as leader.
D. Brutus justifies killing Caesar for the good of Rome, fearing that he may abuse his power.
