Background and context

A solution can have a pH ranging from 0 to 14. The neutral value for pH is 7 and going away on either side of 7 can lead to the acidic or basic features in the solution. The whole chemistry is based on the pH of solutions. Adverse reactions can occur if two solutions of unknown pH are made to react together.
