Background and context
An atom is made up of three important entities named protons, electrons, and neutrons. The charge develops on an atom due to the removal or addition of electrons. Mostly, neutrons and protons are fixed in the core of the atom. The negative charge on the atom indicates the addition of electrons whereas the positive charge reflects that electrons are lost by the atom.
