Background and context
Isotopes can be defined as those elements that consist of an equal number of protons in their nucleus. This number is defined as the atomic number of the atom. The mass number is different from the atomic number. The mass number also incorporates the number of neutrons present along with the protons. Properties of different isotopes may or may not be similar.
