Background and context

Microscopes are instruments that are used to observe enlarged images of an object and hence, they are used to observe and study cells. There are different types of microscopes available today: light microscope, electron microscope, etc.

An electron microscope is better than a light microscope as it gives better resolution and magnification. While a light microscope can magnify an object  times, an electron microscope can magnify cells up to  times. Hence, it can be used to study cells in greater detail.
