Background and context
All kinds of life on Earth (plants, fungi, animals, and microbes), as well as the communities they establish and the circumstances in which they thrive, are included in biodiversity. It is a term that refers to genetic, species, and ecosystem variation and crop diversity is an aspect of biodiversity which refers to the variation in genetic and phenotypic features seen in cultivars grown by farmers. Crop types differ in height, branching pattern, flower colour, fruiting period, seed size, and other characteristics.
