Background and context

Hardy–Weinberg equilibrium is also known as the Hardy–Weinberg principle, model, theorem, or law.  According to principle, in the absence of evolutionary influences, the frequencies of allele and genotype in a population will remain constant from one generation to the next generation; hence it is also referred to as neutral equilibrium time.
