Background and context

The structural and functional unit of the nervous system is neurons which help in transmitting information throughout the network of cells or to other nerve cells, tissues, muscles, or glands.

Each neuron contains, cell body, axon, and dendrite. Axon is a long part of these cells. An axon helps in transferring electrical impulses from the cell body of one neuron to another.
