The question is:

Does the concetration of RBC's (red blood cells) in sheep differfrom the typical value in humans?

I would think that they would differ, but I think that is justbecause they are different species. Help? Thanks!

What is the biological mechanism behind the variation withinsexually reproducing species? Obviously, the children arecombinations, to differing degrees, of their parents. But how doesthe variation originate in the parents to begin with?

I'm not referring to evolution or mutations rather I have inmind things like facial structure and personality in humans, or furcoloring in dogs. I just thought I vaguely remembered there wassome kind of driver of variation... For example, does the parentproduce a variety of germ cells that purposely differ from theparent's geneome?

I just think I'm missing something here.

(I'm familiar with DNA and genetics having taken a biology classin college and remembering much of it, I just can't seem to put myfinger on this point...)

The question is rather straight forward: I have always beencurious as to why, but cannot find an explanation online.

I can imagine that the mechanism is different for each, butwhy does brain tissue and red blood cells use specificallyand only glucose for energy metabolism?
