I need help understanding what marks the beginning of a prokaryotic chromosome. What word would fill in this blank?

A GENE is found in DNA sequences. Genes code for AMINO ACIDS. The PROMOTER marks the start of a gene. The TRANSCRIPTION TERMINATOR mark the end of a gene. The ____ marks the beginning og a prokaryotic chromosome.

Along with helping me understand what word to put in the blank, could you please explain why the words in all caps are the correct term to be used in that sentence? I know those words are right, but I don't know why they are right. Please keep it basic, I am just learning and not required to understand in depth.

Thank you!
