Genetics is really helping us define species at the most basic of levels, DNA. However, there is still debate out there as to how different do you have to be genetically to be a different species? Any thoughts on how different two organisms must be genetically to be considered a different species?

Should it be regulated? Are there currently clones in the market now? Would a clone of a dead relative or pet have the same personality? List at least one source from your research.

Describe specifically what you would need to do to decide whether two different individual organisms are members of the same species or not, under the following species concepts:


a.) phenotypic,

Ok, so this one would have to be based on phenotypes correct? say fossil records could show same bone structures like jaws etc. and then birds could be differentiating between beaks, color, and wing size?



b.) "biological"

this one and phylogenetic confuse me. won't you have to look at dna to decide if they're alike? or does biological mean something else?


c.) 'ecological'
This one would just be to check if they can breed with each other right? even though there can be seperation by continents, if they can breed theyre still the same species right?

d.) phylogenetic
this one and biological confusese me. won't you have to look at dna to decide if they're same species or not? or whats the difference from biological and phylogenetic?
