Visual constancy: tendency to perceive objects as keeping their size, shape, and color, even as retinal image changes. Brain compares visual frames, as in a movie. Relative size : if two object are around the same size then the object that looks the biggest will be judged as being closer than the other. Detail : allows us to see the world around us in 3d and measure the distance of objects from ourselves to the other object. Texture gradient : when looking at an object with a specific texture such as bumps or a grassy field, the texture will become less apparent as the distance increases. Interposition overlapping ): when an object overlaps the other, the object that is obscured is perceived as being farther away.
