(allport, 1985) People trying to exert in uence is an example, but also unintended consequences of social presence on one"s mind (not necessarily evena physical presence) Also includes the scienti c study of how individuals think, feel, and relate to (and about) one another. Some of the most important problems that face the human species are social problems, and social psychologists can help solve them. It"s an experimentally based science - theories and ideas are based on empirical evidence - researchers design studies to systematically test interesting questions. It goes beyond common sense and speculation. Folk wisdom is non-empirical commentary or reasoning.
