Goals of research: description, causal analysis, theory building, application. Planning fallacy: strong tendency to believe that projects will take less time than they actually do, or alternatively, that we an accomplish more in a given period than is really true. We must accept that others have a strong influence on our personal behavior. Social cognition: to think long and hard about other people-what they"re like, why they do what they do, how they might react to our behavior, and so on. One of the most important areas of research in the field.
