In 1850s produced more than half of the world"s iron, coal, and cotton cloth. Second wave of globalization collapsed during world wars and the great. World war i and ii: 1914-18 and 1939-45. Historical waves of globalization created global hierarchies, especially through colonization. These continue to deeply shape our world today! Historical waves of globalization entrenched global capitalist economy; specialization remains basis for international trade. At the end of world war ii, the world was reeling from horrors and destruction of the wars. Excessive national powers and ambitions were in part blamed for the wars.
