Babies learn to repress anger to their sorrow: fear evident in 9 mos, social fears: Separation anxiety when caregiver is about to leave; normal 1 y. o. and intensified at 2. Transitional objects would be their source of comfort not pathological. If this remains strong after age 3 impairs child future endeavours and social interactions. If parents are anxious, they are more fearful of new people.
