Psychosocial: development is the combination of emotional and social development. Developed through interactions with caregivers that are sensitive and responsive during infancy. Early emotional development follows age graded norms that are related to physical and cognitive development - you need basic development in order to understand social situations. Basic emotions like contentment, pain, startle have no self concept. Cry when hungry, in pain and tired. Re exive fear (when infant is startled) is not a emotional reaction, but a conscious perception. Curiosity and interest starts developing - social joy. Anger as early as 4 months (sometimes later) - usually triggered by frustration (goal attainment is blocked) Infants hate to be strapped down or closed in because they want to explore. German infants who are left outside of stores. Fear, anger, laughter and crying are more discriminated and targeted. New emotions appear mid to the end of the second year.
