Resources are anything valued in society (ie. money, property, medical care, education) Open system have boundaries that are flexible and may be influenced by achievements. Closed system have boundaries that are rigid and positions are set by ascribed status. Social mobility is the movement of individuals or groups from one level to another. Intergenerational mobility is the social movement experienced by family members from one generation to the next. Intragenerational mobility is the social movement of individuals within their own time. Slavery is an extreme form of stratification in which some people are owned by others (as objects and property). Occured in greece, roman empire, united states, caribbean, and brazil.
