PLG 310 Chapter 2: PLG310 WEEK 2 READING NOTES
Document Summary
Chapter 2 descriptive analysis and preservation of single-variable data. Any graphic representation used, regardless of type, needs to be self- explanatory. That includes a descriptive, meaningful title and proper identification of quantities and variables involved. This diagram also includes a line graph displaying the cumulative percentages and counts for the bars. A reason to construct a graph is to display its distribution. Two different ways of displaying distribution of qualitative data are the dot plot and the stem-and-leaf display. A histogram is made up of 3 components: a title, which identifies the population or sample of concern, a vertical scale, which identifies the frequencies in the various classes, a horizontal scale which identifies variable x. Values for the class boundaries or class midpoints may be labeled along the x axis.
