Ch10 group dynamics and work teams greg dole. Learning: the group experience contributes positively to the learning and personal wellbeing of individual team members. Task behavior is done with the intent to get the group goal accomplished. Maintenance behaviour is done with the intent to improve relationships among members. Task behaviours: types of behavior relevant to the group"s fulfillment of its task. Initiating: in order for the group to function someone(s) need to take initiative and say, c"mon y"all lets do this thang! Maintenance behaviours: help create an environment that uses maximum amount of member resources: gatekeeping: directing flow of conversation to prevent side conversations, talking over one another etc. If something goes wrong effective groups must stop, test their process and set new standards: using humour: using humour (tequila for example) to put ppl at ease and reduce tension. Allowing conflicts/diffs to be raised and solved to create mutual love, affection and sympathy.
