Document Summary

Organisms: describe the basic requirements of almost all cells. Bone, tendons, cartilage, fat (adipose tissue), blood. Anchors and links structures of the body: internal environment. The fluid in the body which allows for sustaining exchanges and surrounds cells. The surrounding environment where an organism lives. Air in lungs, food in stomach, urine in bladder. Internal external: lungs, gi tract, kidneys: cytosol vs. cytoplasm. Cytosol is part of the cytoplasm not held by the organelles. Cytoplasm is part of the cell within the entire cell membrane. Both are storage of lipids: extracellular fluid vs. intercellular fluid. Intracellular fluid is the fluid inside the cells like cytosol. Extracellular fluid is fluid outside the cells: 2 main components of the extracellular fluid. Regulates: temperature, volume, composition, ph, plasma, glucose levels. Responds to a change of a variable by opposing to what the change was. Responds to a change of a variable by enhancing the change.
