Question 1: Have you ever observed that different babies have different moods and personalities? In this video you will learn about three different types of temperaments in infants, each of which is biologically based: the easy baby, the difficult baby, and the slow to warm up baby. You will see several examples of caregivers and their young ones and learn about the characteristics of babies in each category. Listen for an important message at the end of the video that underscores the positive effect of good parenting for babies of all temperaments.

Explain how the three different types of temperaments described in the video can affect parenting styles and decisions. What is one thing the parents of an easy baby need to bear in mind? What is one thing the parents of the difficult baby need bear in mind? And what about the slow to warm up baby?

Question 2: Why is a parent or caregiver's response to a baby's temperament so critical in terms of long-range child and adult development? (If possible, support your ideas with experiences you've had when caring for infants and/or toddlers.) How does a infant/toddler's temperament effect the microsystem, mesosystem etc.?

4.Find a quote in chapter 2 to support the theme of identity and explain its significance.

5.Even though it puts their lives in danger, the Amin family answers the census truthfully.Layla’s father defends this choice by saying, “We are Muslims. We are Americans. And we will continue to live our lives knowing that those two identities are mutually exclusive.” If part of your identity endangered you or your family’s lives, would you stay faithful to that part of you? Would you hide it? Why or why not?
