Background and context

Virions may contain either DNA or RNA, an outer layer of proteins, or sometimes an outer membrane composed of a phospholipid membrane that is derived from the host cell and proteins. The new viral particles that are produced inside the host are called viral reproduction. There are two ways by which viruses replicate and infect host cells, namely the lytic cycle and the lysogenic cycle.
