Background and context

Population ecologists have assumed that the type or sets of characteristics species have will help species to adapt to their respective environments. These adaptations can be influenced by the type of population growth any species experiences. Characteristics that lead to adaptation and affect population growth are birth rate, age at the time of first reproduction, the total number of offsprings death rates, and even sometimes anatomy and behavior also effect. on the basis of the above-mentioned reasons, ecologists have described life strategies with two types of species- k-selected species and r-selected species.
