MY CLASSMATE SAID:::

--All this is new to me because I haven’t taken a class like micro before so yes I am surprised by how prevalent microorganism are in our environments and our bodies. I find it interesting how it has affected not necessarily how I live but how I’ve become more mindful of bacteria. For example, last night as I was brushing my teeth and other than the fact that we brush our teeth to keep them clean, I thought.. I am brushing my teeth to rid the sweets that S.mutans love thrive in. In other words, I’ve become more cognizant of why we do what we do in our everyday lives and apply concepts I am simultaneously learning about it in microbiology to real life. I guess that is what I find most exciting about this class and it sure is a convenient way to learn. Because microorganisms are ubiquitous, I can better understand how some people can develop into a germaphobe. But as we know, bacteria and germs are inevitable and while some can be fatal, some can also benefit us in imperative ways. I will admit, I had no idea yogurt was a way to stimulate a healthier and stronger digestive system, it should’ve been common sense since it is a probiotic. I was never a big fan of yogurt but now plan on incorporating it in my diet every now and then!
