Human Populations

The world population is estimated to reach 12 billion by the year 2050. Although economic growth has been attained in many countries in recent years it is not catching up with the rate at which population is increasing. The fertility rate (number of children per woman) of Burkina Faso is 6.2 compared to 2.1 and 1.3 of U.S.A and Italy, respectively.

On the Discussion Board, create a new thread and answer the questions below. Answers must use references to literature, readings, and/or personal experience to support comments and demonstrate a thoughtful plan for completing the assignment.

The fertility rate for developing countries like Burkina Faso and Afghanistan are 6.2 and 6.8, respectively, while that of a developed country like the United States is 2.1. List and discuss the driving forces behind why developing countries that have fewer resources have higher fertility rates than developed countries.

Is the current population increase and the projected future population a problem?

The discussion assignment expands your understanding of human populations and fulfills the seven learning objectives listed above.
