Suppose I say "In the beginning God created the heavens and theearth." Is that a scientific hypothesis? If so, what predictionsdoes it make, and what sort of evidence would be necessary tofalsify it? (Remember, we say that a scientific hypothesis shouldbe falsifiable, which means not that it must be disproved, but thatit's possible to imagine data that, if they were found, woulddisprove it.). Keep in mind one could come from the oppositedirection and say "There is no deity, but instead everythingemerged by pure chance." Is this a scientific hypothesis?
