Alcohol dehydrogenase (ADH) is mutated in alcoholics such as Ozzy Osbourne to facilitate alcohol consumption. What does ADH do and how is this possible? Also, be careful not to confuse alcohol dehydrogenase with antidiuretic hormone (also abbreviated ADH), which is also altered by alcohol consumption. Can you also describe how alcohol consumption alters antidiuretic hormone levels and how this results in a change in water retention?
