Many endangered plant and species are currently propagated by commercial growers and botanical gardens and then sold (as both plants and seeds) to government agencies, conservation organizations, garden clubs and the general public, who then in effect create new populations of these legally protected species. There is little or no regulation of these sales or the subsequent plantings. What do you see as the advantages and disadvantages of this wide spread activity? Should the propagation and planting legally protected species be more closely regulated by the government?
