BIO 181 Chapter Notes -Homeostasis, Organelle, Archaea
Document Summary
Biology - study of life, we know only a fraction of the species that live on. Grow and develop according to their dna. Can be grouped on whether or not they have a nucleus (a structure that contains dna) Producers - harvest energy from the environment through a process called photosynthesis. Consumers - ingest other organisms and their byproducts. Homeostasis - the regulation of a stable internal environment (dogs panting) Energy processing - all organisms use a source of energy to perform metabolic activities. (breakdown of food) Organelle - compartment within a cell that carries out a specific. Molecule - a chemical made of one or more atoms that function. Tissue - made of similar cells that carry out the same function. Prokaryotes and archaea - are single-celled and dna is not contained in the nucleus. Eukaryotes - multi-celled and does contain a nucleus.
