BUSINESS MANAGEMENT Lecture : Management_Primary_Functions
Document Summary
Management has been defined as a process for achieving organizational goals. A process is a series of ongoing and interconnected activities. Ongoing implies that the activities are not carried out in a sequential, step-by-step manner, with responsibility being passed from one activity to the next. Instead, the activities are carried on as new ones are initiated. Management is responsible for ensuring that critical activities are carried out efficiently (in the best possible way) and effectively (doing the right thing). An administrator must perform four major functions as part of the management process. Planning, organization, direction, and control are all aspects of management. It is critical to recognize that the management process is not always linear. Because it is impossible to plan for every problem that your organization will face, you do not begin with planning and proceed with each step until your organization"s goals are met. When unexpected events occur, changes and corrections are made as the management process progresses.
