Document Summary
Learning: permanent change in behavior obtained by experience, whatever we do is based upon the things we have already learned. Stimulus: physical aspect of the environment that is capable of imploring sense organs. Response: the reaction in the body caused by stimuli. S-r connectionism: learning consists of connection of certain responses to the perception of certain stimuli, learning is also known as conditioning. Ivan pavlov was a physiologist who researched a lot on conditioning. Saliva experiment involved a dog who was connected with a saliva detector. The purpose of this experiment was to know when the processing of saliva begins from its mouth when the dog is given food. But after a few tries of the experiment the dog heard the researchers" footsteps when they walked into the room and hence salivates early. Initially only the food causes stimulus, now footsteps cause salivation. Here conditioned stimulus is the neutral stimulus which is the footsteps.
