PSYCH 339 Lecture 4: Understanding and Knowledge
Document Summary
Almost everyone in the world has some kind of language, a way they communicate and connect with others. Many languages have similar words and phrases that can lead to similar understanding and knowledge between groups. However, what one person sees or understands as reality may not be the same as what another perceive. This is especially true when people come from different backgrounds. For instance, what we see as the world and interpret as normal is very different from what sheena would classify as normal. We might know something is true, but due to how we see the world, we might believe it is something else. Or we might believe something is true even though we can clearly verify that it is false. It is so hard to shake someone"s beliefs and persuade them to change their reality.
