Document Summary

Although both videos that we watched were filmed in the past decade and focused on an isolated group of people, i thought the dynamics and interactions between people were fairly different. In first contact, the txapanawa tribe emerged to contact civilization by choice because they were facing over external dangers. By contrast, in the film about the pygmies, it was the filmmaker who attempted to find these people by exploring the jungle of the central. In my mind, the filmmaker and crew were intruding on the land and lives of the pygmies. Even so, i was surprised by the lack of conflict between the pygmies and foreigners. The film mentioned several times the fear of being found by the soldiers and not making it out alive, but those fears were never about the pygmies.
