Document Summary
Learning a connection between a behavior and that behaviors. Thought we could only study observable behavior b. f. skinner took this and made it his thing! We can change behavior by changing our reactions. With enough control over a humans environment it could work on them too! Can all be mixed to shape the wanted behavior positive negative reinforcement adds to increase punishment adds to decrease remove to increase remove to decrease. Primary reinforcers - direct satisfaction from object e. g. food, water. Secondary reinforcers - used to get satisfaction from something else e. g. money. Primary punishers - directly unsatisfying e. g. touching a hot stove, intense cold. Secondary reinforcers - associated with a bad outcome e. g. speeding ticket. Positive reinforcement adds what we like to increase a behavior. Positive punishment adds what we don"t like to decrease a behavior. Negative reinforcement takes away what we don"t like to increase a behavior.
