54 views2 pages

Document Summary

1. the f1 progeny of a cross between two true-breeding lines establishes the dominance of the phenotype. 2. the f2 & test crosses established that alleles segregate independently into gametes. The previous two slides represent hypotheses, not scientific proof. What else do we need to do? (what experiment?) Test crosses confirmed the genotypes predicted by mendel"s hypothesis. Here therefore confirmed that different traits are controlled by alleles at different genes and that the alleles of these different genes assort independently into gametes. His results were independently rediscovered by devries and correns in the early 20th century. Each affected individual has at least one affected parent. In crosses with one affected parent, about offspring affected. Two unaffected parents do not have affected children. Two affected parents can have unaffected children. Affected individuals can be the offspring of unaffected parents. If both parents are affected their offspring are affected.
