Anxiety is the basic problem and is either: the main disturbance (panic and gad, experienced when one encounters certain situations (phobia) Only in the time of the phobia: experienced because of fear of panic attack (panic) There is great overlap among the disorders, so it is likely that maybe more than one exists because they do overlap. Even if you were attacked by a dog beforehand because it is irrational for all dogs- not all dogs are scary. Group of anxiety symptoms brought on by certain objects or situations (irrational and persistant) 11% of people have a phobia in a given year, but 14% during a lifetime. Persistent and irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that results in a compelling desire to avoid the dreamed object, activity, or situation: snakes, claustrophobia, heights (acrophobia), mathaphobia (fear of math)
