May need to have international permission by the country (may be hard to get/impossible because focus of research is sensitive) Irbs require informed consent: researchers must inform participants of the intent, scope, possible effects of study and need their consent for them to be included in study (ethical correct) Can be difficult to get if it is written (illiteracy, subject) Buying living equipment, health preparations, medical kits, research equipment, language training.
