Self-awareness theory when we focus our attention on ourselves, we evaluate and compare our current behavior against our internal standards and values. In the sense that we become objective, judgmental observers of ourselves. Self focus can also be a way of keeping you out of trouble, by reminding you of your sense of right and wrong. When you look at yourself (self aware) you evaluate if your current behavior matchs your ideals. If not you feel bad, if it does you feel good. If you can change the bad it you will make you feel good: you cant you try to escape it, escapes: alcohol abuse, binge eating, sexual masochism, and suicide.
