Martin van buren left the ny politics to go work in washington. American communities (chapter 11) politics called bucktails , which was one of the first democratic political parties. He became president over dewitt clinton in 1821. Dewitt clinton became the ny governor and created the plan to build the erie canal. Martin van buren came from a poorer family. Clinton made van buren mad b/c he gave money to his friends. Buren won and changed ny cons of 1777 and cut the patronage powers form the governor. He made it more democratic, making it express the will of its members. He also made all the party members follow all of the rules. Martin van buren left in 1821, but many other people now had same political ideologies as him. The new group of people in the government were called the albany. Martin van buren participated in the second american party system. Act of 1791: br forces suppressed all riots.
