Babies are the purist essence of who we are. Newborn states: 4 primary states, sleeping, awake activity, feeding, crying. 3 types of cries: 2-3 hours a day, types, basic cry: soft first, then more insistent later, mad cry: sudden onset, rapid conclusion, pain cry: ahhhh! (breath) ahhhh! If cries because hungry, wet, or in pain: food, change diapers, remove the mousetrap from finger, rocking, stroking singing, 45% less crying if held more. We have 25% contact: swaddling, sucking, home remedies, baby tamer. Instrumental individuals think of the world as a hierarchy in which status matters a great deal. They are fine in a supporting role and are less comfortable tooting their own horn: androgynous individuals do both and generally do better. Sleep: daylight helps set our biological clock (suprachiasmatic muclleus, melatonin regulates our circadian rhythm, eeg recording of the brain patterns during sleep, height amplitude, frequency number per second, regularity smoothness of pattern.
