Bring three printed-out copies of your first draft Extended Definition to class.
The Extended Definition Essay (see chapter 17)
Compose an “Extended Definition” of a word, concept or object from your major.
The first draft (2%) is due Sunday September 3 at 11:00pm in dropbox on Canvas.
The first draft should be at least 701+ words long.
The final draft (8%) due Thursday September 7 at 11:00pm on Canvas AND
Turnitin.com
The final draft should be between 550-700 words.
From the syllabus: Chose an important concept or object from your major and
write an extended definition of what it is what it means, how it is used or
functions etc.
• You must use your own thoughts and words to create this essay. No
references, citations or quotes from sources, please. There are no "right" or
"wrong" "answers" when composing this Extended Definition. What is most
important are the mental processes that YOU apply to the written language to
make the word, concept or object understood by your audience.
• Demonstrate an attention to detail concerning assignment requirements.
• Strive to employ unified paragraphs in your writing.
• Please use proper page formatting; submit an MS Word document.
• The “similarity index” from Turnitin ought to be <16%.
