PSY 370 Lecture Notes - Lecture 12: Psy, Likert Scale, Assessment Centre
Document Summary
The main stimulus or body of the item. ***even a multiple choice item is a dichotomous item. Because some answers get you a score of correct and others a score of incorrect. But we don"t distinguish between keyed answers and distractors. Response is coded on some kind of a scale. The test taker may or may not see the scale. One common type of scale: the likert scale. Scale where the respondent chooses from a set of ordered categories. 5 and 7 are common, but that doesn"t make a likert scale. Respondent chooses from a set of ordered categories. Uses integers to scale responses (1, 2, 3, etc. ) Treat the data as if these represent (roughly) even differences in the construct. But these numbers don"t make a likert scale. Can have an odd or even number of response options. Points in between can be labeled or not.
