We process a lot of information while dreaming. Different theories as to explain why we have specific dreams. Notions around dreams and what they reveal is probably one of the most important. Past and present affect the way a dream means. "dreams are the royal road to the unconscious" If u want to understand someone"s deepest fears, anxiety"s and personality u must look at the dreams. Latent content- the origin of the dream, the meaning. Dreams often hide anxiety or formulation that are not sexual i. e women might have phallic dreams that may be about wanting to start a family or sexual assault not necessarily about them wanting sex. No easy interpretation on how to understand dreams. Different from jung (personal vs collective unconscious expressed in dreams) Jung did collective and said dreams had architypes. Different themes mean different things that have to be broken down into a universal theme or idea.
