1633, catholic church ordered galileo to recant his heliocentric claim. Earth laws operate in the heavens as well, one universe. Conceived the laws of motion and gravity. An object moves at constant velocity unless a net force acts to change its speed or direction. For every force, there is always an equal and opposite reaction force. A force that keeps the moon in orbit about the earth, the planets moving about the sun and indeed, a force that keeps you firmly on the ground. The universal law of gravitation: every mass attracts every other mass, the attraction is directly proportional to the product of their masses, the attraction is inversely proportional to the square of the distance between their centers. Moon is about 1% of the mass of the earth. Fg = g (m1m2) -> as objects get further away, the gravitational attraction decreases. Einstein"s theory of relativity: an improvement on newton"s laws of gravity.
