Document Summary

We are searching for life as we know it , not necessarily just intelligent life. Scientists are very curious about the possibility of life beyond earth, but no clear evidence exists yet. Searching for a sign of life, macroscopic or microscopic, that has been able to flourish and become sentient. Life isn"t always as obvious as we think. We tend to look for life we would recognize; life such as what we find on earth. This does not mean that carbon based life is the only form of life that can exist. The notion of life beyond earth is an old theme but had little factual basis until quite recently. Observations of canals on mars and jungles on venus both erroneous advanced the notion of life in the solar system. Observations often taken from very poor telescopic views of planets, and jumping to conclusions.
